We Are Vibrational Beings
The Power of Thought, Frequency & Neuroplasticity
My friend and awesome author Rachel Tribble writes fiction that, for me, inspires curiosity about our Universe and how it works. I mean, we know that everything in the Universe is made of energy, including us. At the most fundamental level, every cell, atom, and molecule in our body is in constant motion, resonating with its own unique frequency. This idea, supported by quantum physics and ancient spiritual teachings alike, points to one profound truth: we are vibrational beings. And just as a tuning fork can influence another through resonance, our thoughts—subtle but powerful forms of energy—can shape and shift the frequency at which we vibrate. If that isn’t a premise for a fantastic journey, what is?
To think of my body not just as flesh and bone, but as a dynamic field of energy, constantly interacting with the environment prompts me to become more aware of myself and my surroundings. Seeing myself in terms of frequency inspires me to pay attention to what frequency I am putting out; especially in the presence of others or when thinking about them. Every emotion, thought and intention I carry emits a signal. Positive thoughts, such as love, gratitude, and joy, generate high-frequency vibrations, while emotions like fear, anger, or guilt produce lower-frequency waves. This vibrational signature not only affects how I feel physically and mentally but also influences the world around me. So, what do I bring to the table? What do I share with young people? How are my thoughts shaping or contributing to the world today?
I first saw Dr. Masaru Emoto's famous experiments with water in the film What The Bleep Do We Know? He demonstrated the effects of human thought beautifully. When water was exposed to words like “love” or “thank you,” the resulting frozen crystals formed beautiful, symmetrical patterns. In contrast, water exposed to negative words produced distorted, chaotic shapes. Considering that the human body is made up of around 70% water, it's not a stretch to believe our thoughts can have a similar impact on our physical and energetic well-being. In that film, this question was posed, “If our thoughts are doing this to water, what are they doing to us?”
This concept of thought-frequency alignment is echoed in many ancient traditions. Chinese Taoist monks called energy Chi (Qi) over 5000 years ago. As a modern Taoist Medical QiGong instructor, the first thing I teach is emotional balance through specific formulas of meditation. Many students spend years meditating to master this Chi before moving forward with their studies. Ancient yogis spoke of Prana as the life force energy flowing through us, and how our state of mind could open or block this flow. In modern terms, neuroscience is catching up, showing how consistent thought patterns reshape the brain and nervous system—a process aptly called neuroplasticity. When I hold onto stress or anxiety, my body reflects that, often through tension, fatigue, or even illness. On the other hand, cultivating inner peace can facilitate health, resilience and feelings of connectedness. Yay science, thank you for putting the reins of my health firmly in my own hands.
Am I ready to be empowered by the idea that I am not a passive recipient of these vibrations and accept that I am the creator? It depends on the day; some days I just want to wallow. Regardless, my thoughts are tools I use to elevate or lower my frequency. Meditation, affirmations, gratitude practices, music, and time in nature are all powerful ways to raise my vibration. Even simply choosing to reframe a negative situation into a learning opportunity can shift my energy dramatically and alter the timelines, going forward and back, for the better (more on this in another writing).
Let’s take it one step further. The choice to vibrate at a higher frequency not only helps a person feel better, but also attracts more aligned experiences, people and opportunities. This is the essence of the “law of attraction”: like attracts like. Our internal state becomes a magnet for the external reality we live in. It sounds more like science fiction than science, but this is what we know. How wonderful to be in a position to change our life by changing our mind.
In a world often focused on material outcomes, it’s easy to overlook the invisible energy field that surrounds and connects us. Like asking a fish to describe water, we swim through this field daily and have no idea we are the ones creating it. But the more we tune into our own vibrational nature, the more we begin to understand just how powerful we really are. By choosing thoughts that uplift and inspire, we don’t just change ourselves—we ripple that energy outward, subtly influencing everything we touch. So, knowing our thoughts are literally creating reality, what should we be thinking about?

This is beautiful & so wonderful to find like minded souls on substack. 💗
I breathe in beautiful positive and breathe out ugly and negative. Every time I find my thoughts straying. Ego out, Universe in.
